Even though we did not do a lot in class today, it was a lot of fun. We met in the studio and talked about what we were going to do for the day. Then we all signed in and signed up for times to have our meeting with Professor Schroeder about our reading. After that, we all found out who got chosen to do their packages for their group.
Then all of our groups got to work on editing our packages and voicing our VO’s. Even though my script did not get chosen for the package, I still did a VO anyway and edited the package myself for my demo reel. Out of our group, Jen Lauck’s script was chosen and she did a great job on her stand-up and VO.
During the editing process, I had my appointment with Professor Schroeder. She talked to me about breathing from my stomach, not punching my words, and acting (making people think it is the most important story I have ever told). I know I can do all of this, but it is going to take a lot of practice. I have already been practicing breathing from my stomach and I think I pretty much have it which is pretty exciting to me because when I took voice lessons I never grasped this. The not punching the words thing is extremely hard because when I was practicing with Professor Schroeder, I did not even know I was doing it. Also, I feel like if I don’t punch my words I sound really boring… so I definitely need to work on this.
I am so glad that Professor Schroeder took the time to sit down and talk to all of us because I learned a lot, and hopefully on Friday, when I anchor the news, her constructive criticism will pay off.
