Day 4 (Now that my blog is up and running :D)

Today, Virginia Kerr came and talked to our class. We met in the classroom and then she began telling us about her background and a little more about herself. She told us she started in a really small market and worked her way up from the bottom.

Something that I did not think she would do, but I am very glad that she did, was she let us into her social life and explained to us how her relationships has been affected by her career choice and how life is with her family being in the business she is in. She said her relationships were not really affected by her broadcasting career but also, that she has not wanted to settle down either because of her love for the business. Another thing she told us, which I already kind of knew but was hoping would not happen, was that you do not get to see your family very much. I thought this was really sad, but I guess in the back of my mind I was expecting it. Something that I was wondering, and was glad she talked about, was that she advised against agents unless you are applying for a top 10 market, because they eat a lot of your money.

After that, we went to the station and Beth performed her interview with Virginia. I thought it went really well and Beth did a good job.

I am really glad that Virginia came and talked to us. I liked her personality a lot and she made me feel like she was just like me at one point, so that boosted my confidence level a lot. Thanks professor Schroeder for scheduling her to come and talk to our class. It was a lot of fun.
